b) Energy Audit
Water supply to Bangalore is a highly power intensive project. Since many of the major pumps and motors provided at different pumping stations have served 24 years of life, their efficiency has goes down considerably and thereby consume more power and discharge less. In order to assess the power loss and to suggest remedies for effective improvement to the system, the Tata Energy Research Institute (TERI) was entrusted with the consultancy work.
Based on the report of TERI, the task of replacement of pumps and motors, replacement of impellers of the pumps or providing highly efficient pump motors etc. has been completed at a cost of Rs.1790 lakhs through megacity funding.
