Completed Projects

A pilot project area comprising 40,000 connections in Bangalore City covering Service Station of Clive Line Reservoir, Johnson Market, Ulsoor ,High Grounds and Coles mark, is proposed to be implemented on a trial scheme to reduce the
existing leakages and also to bring into Bangalore through project Global experiences covering entire exercise. This would address twin parameters of conserving water and also enhance customer satisfaction (increasing water revenue) in the city.

French Funded Projects

Under the Indo-French protocol 1995 signed on 19.12.96, an amount of 50 Million Francs has been earmarked for BWSSB towards improvement of Water supply and sewerage system in the city, out of which 40 Million Francs are provided towards tertiary treatment plants at V.Valley and Yelahanka.
The detailed project reports submitted to the State Government has been approved by GOK vide No.UDD/119/MNI/96 Bangalore dated 20.03.98 and the projects have also been technically cleared by CPHEEO, Ministry of Urban development and poverty alleviation, Govt. Of India, vide letter dated 30.3.98

Funds required for implementing the above two treatment plant projects have also been finalised with KUIDFC and HUDCO under Megacity and under Indo French protocol.
BWSSB has contemplated to utilise the French loan for the following works.

1. Recycling plants:

a) V Valley Tertiary Treatment plant 30 Million Francs b) Yelahanka Satellite Town Tertiary treatment plant 10 Million Francs
2. Consultancy Services.
 a) Computerised mapping including developing GIS 6 Million Francs
 b) Supply of Leak detection and Flow measurement equipments
2 Million Francs
 c) Telemetering Audit and Technical Assistance.  1 Million Francs
 d) Aquifers and Lake water quality Management   1 Million Francs
Total  50 Million Francs
Tertiary Treatment Plant

a) V.Valley - T.T.P

A 60 MLD T.T.Plant at an estimated cost of Rs.35 Crores. has been executed with funding from HUDCO under Megacity scheme and Indo-French Protocol commisioned in May 2003.
Recycled water is proposed to be supplied to M/s Karnataka Power Corporation Limited and M/s Pulikeshi Power Corporation for their power generation plants to be located at Bidadi and industries Bidadi Kumbalgud industrial Area.
b) Yelahanka - T.T.P
A 10 MLd Tertiary Treatment plant with recycling facilities at an estimated cost of Rs.34 Crores at Yelahanka has been commissioned. Funds required for this project have been soursced through KUIDFC/HUDCO under Megacity scheme and Indo-French Protocol.
Recycled water is proposed to be supplied to ITC, Wheel and Axel Plant and proposed International Air-Port at Devanahalli.

Yelahanka Consultancy Services

It was proposed to take up Computerised Mapping including developing GIS for the Water and Waste Water Network System of Bangalore city for effective maintenance and to provide the management a tool for long term planning at an estimated cost of Rs.4.75 Crores.
For implementing above scheme about Rs.17 Crores was available under French funding and the balance to be made available through internal resources.
BWSSB took steps to get the Aerial Photography of Bangalore City done through National Remote Sensing Agency, Hyderabad.
Tender Notification inviting Tenders for implementing GIS limiting to French Companies had been issued.
4 sets of Leak detection equipments were procured under French funding at a cost of Rs.1.2 Crores, for identification of Leaks and its Pluggings on priority to reduce the Unaccounted for water.
